New Jersey's new online gambling laws are tight — so tight that some residents living near the border may not be allowed to ante up when the betting begins. Officials say the digital fencing, placed an "unspecified distance inland" to guard against New Yorkers and Pennsylvanians from partaking, will probably block some in-state users.

SNL Brilliantly Skewers Rob Ford and 60 Minutes

Every so often, a beautiful sort of kismet occurs on Saturday Night Live, when a public figure goes off the rails and an SNL comic is perfectly positioned to mock them mercilessly. It happened for Will Ferrell with George Bush and Tina Fey with Sarah Palin. Now it's Bobby Moynihan's turn — and the man was born to play Rob Ford.

But although Ford's antics — if allowed to continue — seem likely to escalate, SNL wisely made the choice to fit the Ford-crack-cocaine-pussy-eating extravaganza into another scandal — 60 Minute's Benghazi blunder.

After Moynihan as Ford completes a series of press conferences, telling the press to put on some Chapstick so they can kiss his "fat white ass", buying crack, dancing around high on crack ("I'm the best mayor of all of the mayors, I'm the best mayor in the world, your mayor's can suck my... I fell on my dick! I fell on my little dick! What are the odds? That is like falling on a needle in a haystack!") — he realizes he's lost all credibility.

So he seeks out a news show where, "People DO believe me, and would believe ANYTHING I say": 60 Minutes.

Lara Logan: Mayor Rob Ford. Patriot. Hero. Role model. Tonight, he'll tell a side of the story you have to hear to believe. So Mayor Ford, once and for all, what is the truth?

Rob Ford: I have never done crack

Lara Logan: I believe you.

Rob Ford: I've also never smoked pot?

Lara Logan: I believe you.

Rob Ford: And I've never had alcy-hol?

Lara Logan: Mayor Ford...? I believe you.

Dad Charged with Cruelty Made Injured Kids Walk a Mile After Car Crash

A Vermont man has been charged with child cruelty after he made his injured four-year-old and nine-year-old sons walk more than a mile down a snow-covered road instead of getting help after his SUV crashed into a utility pole.

He was officially charged with delaying their medical treatment for injuries that included concussions and broken bones.

It's unclear how or why the crash occurred; according to the AP, police received a report of an SUV hitting a utility pole on Nov. 12, but the car was gone by the time troopers reported.

Police say that the boys' father, Justin Galenski, made them walk to the home of a friend of Galenski, reportedly a registered nurse who was supposed to help him assess their injuries. But Galenski never followed up on medical treatment for his children.

Instead, the boys' mother called police the next day because she was concerned about her children's injuries — concussions, a broken arm, and a broken clavicle.

Galenski has been charged with child cruelty for delaying his children's medical treatment, and will appear in court next week.

He told the AP that he loves his children very much.

"I love these boys. The sun and moon rises with them with me. This was an accident. It was a horrible, horrible night. By no means did I mean to hurt my kids," he said.

Butterball has announced a nationwide shortage of turkeys just in time for Thanksgiving. The reason? "We experienced a decline in weight gains on some of our farms causing a limited availability of large, fresh turkeys," said a non-worrisome company statement.

Mom Tries to Evade Ticket, Cop Shoots at Minivan Full of Kids

She was just trying to take her kids to the Rio Grande. Or that's what Oriana Ferrell says in this newly released dashcam footage from an Oct. 28 incident outside of Taos, New Mexico.

The video shows Ferrell being pulled over in a minivan for going 71 miles per hour in a 55 miles per hour zone. Ferrell, with her five children in the car, begins arguing with the officer. As the cop walks back toward his car to write her a ticket, Ferrell pulls away from the scene and is again pulled over immediately by the same officer.

The police officer tries to pull Ferrell out of the car and when this happens, her 14-year-old son momentarily gets out of the car to defend his mother but is stopped when the cop pulls out his Taser. A larger scuffle ensues, the 14-year-old rushes the policeman, and by the time backup arrives, one officer uses a baton to break the window of the van. Another cop, naturally, pulls out his gun and fires three shots at the back of the minivan filled with children ages six to 18, three of whom were in the backseat.

Ferrell then dangerously led police on a four-minute chase through the streets of Taos and eventually pulled into a hotel where she was arrested with five counts of abuse of a child, aggravated fleeing an officer, resisting an officer, reckless driving and possession of drug paraphernalia. The Taos News reports that two marijuana pipes were found in the car. Ferrell's 14-year-old son was also arrested with battery of an officer.

According to KRQE, State Police are not releasing the names of the officers involved in the incident and while their actions have led to an internal investigation, but the men have not been removed from active duty.

Newborn Twins Can't Stop Cuddling During Bath Time

A little girl falling over on ice might be cute, but twin babies hugging each other and getting a weird French bath might be cuter, in its own weird, French way.

This adorable video was posted online last week by Sonia Rochel, 51, a staff member at the Clinique de le Muette in Paris. According to The Local, Rochel, who specializes in early childcare development, became "famous" when she developed the idea of the "Thalasso bain bébé" for newborns. Because everyone, including infants, loves a nice spa treatment.

Her spa bath technique for newborns involves bathing and massaging newborn babies for 15 minutes without any creams or gels. Rochel wanted to show that "bath time for newborns should be a relaxing experience for both baby and parent," and the video makes a pretty compelling argument that a relaxing experience might be attainable. Most parents of newborns would agree that nothing is relaxing, but maybe they've spent all these years doing bath time without the right soundtrack and sink attachments.

Or maybe it's just a French thing.

Woman Fined $3500 for Leaving a Negative Review Online

Like many consumers who have had a bad experience, Jen Palmer wrote a review online in 2008 after the Christmas presents her husband ordered from Kleargear.com never arrived. Years later, thanks to her online review, the couple is facing a damaged credit score and a $3,500 fine.

When the items Palmer's husband ordered in 2008 didn't ship within 30 days, the PayPal transaction was automatically canceled. However, Palmer still left a review on RipoffReport in early 2009 detailing her experiences with trying to reach the company's customer service:

A company like yours, while catering to geeks, should first and foremost understand that while electronic communication is nice, there are inevitably times that human contact is necessary. At this point, the only thing I can determine is that your customer service department, in fact, your whole company, is so busy returning voicemails from disgruntled customers that they are inable to take live calls of any kind.

But three years later, Palmer's husband received an email from Kleargear.com demanding that the post be taken off RipOffReport or the couple would face a fine. Apparently, Palmer violated a non-disparagement agreement hidden within the terms of sale on the Kleargear website. The clause read:

"In an effort to ensure fair and honest public feedback, and to prevent the publishing of libelous content in any form, your acceptance of this sales contract prohibits you from taking any action that negatively impacts kleargear.com, its reputation, products, services, management or employees."

According to KUTV, the clause (it's no longer on the website) also said that if the consumer violates the contract "they will have 72 hours to remove your post or face a $3500 fine. If that fine is not paid, the delinquency will be reported to the nation's credit bureaus."

When a scared Palmer contacted RipoffReport to remove the posting, she was allegedly told it would cost her $2000 to get the review taken down.

Because the couple could not pay either the fee or the fine, their credit score was dinged by Kleargear. Palmer reports that she and her husband are now getting rejection letters from lenders as they apply for a loan to fix their car and their furnace.

KUTV looked into the company and found that in 2010, the company had an "F" rating with the Better Business Bureau for "not delivering products purchased online in a timely manner." Today Kleargear has a "B" rating. When the reporter contacted an unidentified employee at Kleargear via email, the employee defended the $3,500 charge and said that when they asked Palmer to take down the review or face a fine, they were not blackmailing her: they claim they were making a "diligent effort to help them avoid [the fine]."

The couple cannot afford a lawyer, but KUTV has put them in touch with media relations people at a credit bureau in the hopes that they can successfully appeal the credit ding.

Making the situation even more disgusting, TechDirt has done more research and found that Kleargear's non-disparagment clause may not have even existed when Palmer's husband made his order:

According to the Internet Archive, that clause didn't exist in 2008, when Jen wrote her review, so there's no way the company can claim that charge is legitimate, even by its own shady metrics. It actually doesn't appear until June of 2012, suggesting that its battle to raise its BBB rating wasn't going as well as it had hoped, but rather than overhaul its customer service, it decided to bill its way back to the top at $3,500 a review.

In the meantime, the attention on this case has driven more people than usual to the Kleargear website. Apparently consumers are unable to resist the pull of a good "Geek T-Shirt," even if the company is a sack of garbage. On the front page of the site, the president of Kleargear has written "WHOA! Due to an unexpected and short increase in recent order volume, orders with Standard Shipping will temporarily leave Kleargearland in up to 48 business hours."

Dozens of Tornadoes Rip Through the Midwest, Killing at Least 6

A severe storm system slammed the Midwest yesterday, killing at least six people and injuring dozens more throughout Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and Missouri. "The devastation is just unbelievable," Gary Manier, the mayor of Washington, Illinois, told Reuters. "I can't imagine people walked away from these places."

All six fatalities occurred in Illinois, which was hit with at least 10 tornadoes. At least 16 twisters struck Indiana, and eight were reported in Kentucky. Missouri and Ohio were each struck by one.

Dozens of injuries were reported from the storms, though the exact number isn't yet clear. As of Sunday night, nearly 90,000 people in Northern Illinois were without power, including parts of Chicago. An additional 24,000 people remain without electricity in Indiana, and more than 35,000 lost power in Missouri, mostly near St. Louis.

Large parts of Washington, Illinois, population 15,000, were destroyed in seconds. "Within less than a minute, everything started collapsing inside the house, cracking, sputtering," resident Steve Bucher told NBC News. "Next thing we know, it's light inside the garage."

"The whole neighborhood's gone. The wall of my fireplace is all that is left of my house," another Washington resident, Michael Perdun, told NBC. "I stepped outside and I heard it coming. My daughter was already in the basement, so I ran downstairs and grabbed her, crouched in the laundry room and all of a sudden I could see daylight up the stairway and my house was gone."

This is reportedly a video of one of the tornadoes that landed near Washington.

Calling herself "The Goddess of the Train" according to eyewitnesses, the unidentified 31-year-old ordered all passengers off, causing a 15-to-30-minute delay in service this past Saturday.

DNAInfo Chicago reports that police arrived at the scene around 12:45 p.m, and escorted the woman off the train.

She was subsequently transported to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston for evaluation.

A police spokeswoman said the woman suffers from a mental illness, but would not specify.

Peggy Noonan Agog at This World of Airplanes and Electricity

John F. Kennedy. A man. A president. An American. He died a long time ago. Now, it is 50 years later. Do we still live in a magical time? Only Peggy Noonan has the words to capture this age of miracles.

Peggy Noonan, explicator-in-chief of The Wondrous Magic That Is America, has written a stirring reminder of Why We Still Talk About JFK. And indeed, her final point really "says it all," when it comes to America (Here) (Today) (Now):

6. We live in now. We live in this world. Right now I can hardly believe it that I am in seat 6B of American Airlines flight 2442, LAX to Dallas-Fort Worth, a few hundred miles west of Los Angeles, mountains and desert stretching below—and I am typing on an iPad, and will press a button, and my editor in New York in just a few seconds will read this and post it on The Wall Street Journal website and you will read it. It still takes my breath away. This is "the age of miracles and wonders." Some child born now will look back on these days as Camelot.

Brutal Beatdown of Off-Duty NYPD Officer Caught on Video

An off-duty NYPD officer was nearly beaten to death early Sunday morning in Queens as onlookers cheered “Worldstar!” and recorded the incident on cellphone cameras.

According to police sources who spoke with the New York Post, Sgt. Mohammed Deen was attacked by 29-year-old Hayden Holder, who repeatedly punched and kicked Deen as the officer lay unconscious in the middle of the street. The video also captures Holder punching the window of Deen's white BMW as Deen's wife reportedly sat inside.

“It was a vicious, savage beating,’’ one police source told the Post.

The incident began at a Jamaica, Queens nightclub where the two men began arguing, reportedly after Deen bumped into Holder. The actual “fight” took place at 5:30 am outside a takeout restaurant about one mile from the club.

Holder was arrested as he tried to flee the scene and has reportedly confessed to the beating, though he told police he did not know Deen was a cop. He's being held on charges of felony assault.

The Post spoke to one of Holder's neighbors, who described the 29-year-old as a neighborhood terror.

“He gets more hyper when he’s drunk,” Mienkoemar Panchu told the Post, adding that Holder would often smash his empty beer bottles in the street. “Everybody used to keep a distance on the block.”

Deen, an 18-year NYPD veteran, suffered critical injuries and is in a medically induced coma at Jamaica Hospital.

This Live-Tweeting of a Couple's Breakup Is Better Than Most Movies

Brooklyn-based writer and comic Kyle Ayers swears it happened this way:

He was hanging out on the rooftop of his apartment building, just enjoying the view with a few other people, when a couple suddenly showed up and started breaking up in front of everyone.

"A couple is breaking up on my roof right now," he tweeted Saturday evening. "I was just trying to enjoy the view. Now I will live tweet the breakup."

And so, with the help of the hashtag #roofbreakup, Ayers proceeded to do just that, as thousands followed along rapt with wonder.

In the end, not even the promise of pizza could save this failed relationship, and that basically says it all.

And "I'm not talking about love on a roof in Brooklyn" is this generation's "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn."
