A kangaroo just trying to have a nice morning on Staten Island Saturday morning has been captured and returned to his life of quiet indoor desperation.
The kangaroo, seen near a repair shop, broke free for a few golden moments around 8 a.m., and was seen hopping about, finally breathing the crisp Staten Island air. According to the New York Daily News, the roo opened a door and was spotted in a back yard.
“It was jumping around, enjoying the freedom and the fun,” shop owner Urim Osmani told the New York Daily News. “We didn’t know what it was. We thought it was a deer. When it came closer, we saw it was a kangaroo. We thought it disappeared from a zoo or something.”
The kangaroo reportedly belongs to someone who both doesn’t know about the perils of owning exotic pets was visiting a friend in Staten Island. Now, having felt the cool breeze of a Staten Island morning, he will never be the same.
