Clive Davis Confirms Rumors, Comes Out as Bisexual

Legendary music mogul Clive Davis, whose impact on pop music and pop culture in general has been felt for the past five decades, reveals in his new memoir that he has been in a "strong monogamous relationship" with a man for the past seven years.

Prior to that, the 80-year-old says he was in a similarly monogamous relationship with a male doctor for some 14 years.

But Davis still considers himself to be bisexual.

"Do I feel I could have been similarly attracted to a woman?" he writes in The Soundtrack of My Life (out today). "The answer is yes."

The twice-divorced Davis, who has never before spoken out publicly about his sexuality, recounts his first same-sex relationship in intimate detail.

One night, in Studio 54, Davis says he was approached by a male fan, and, after enough alcohol, opened himself to sexual exploration.

"Was I nervous?" he writes. "Absolutely. Did the heavens open up? No. But it was satisfying."

After separating from his second wife, Davis spent the latter part of the '80s in three simultaneous relationships with two women and a man.

Davis says in his book that coming out strained his relationship with one of his three sons, but that after "one very trying year," the two worked things out.

Despite his tumultuous life and career and the confessional nature of Soundtrack, Davis makes it clear that he is not done yet.

"Listen, I love music," he tells USA Today. "So as long as my health is good, I'm going to keep doing this."
